Gus Baylow

Senior at the University of Kansas

Welcome to my page! I am currently a senior at the University of Kansas that is involved in play-by-play broadcasting throughout a variety of sport media outlets. I expect to graduate in May of 2024 with a degree in News and Information with a focus in journalism. The goal after college is to work in baseball with an emphasis in play-by-play broadcasting, and I’m hoping to continue to build on my skills throughout my last year at KU.

Currently at Kansas, I am the Voice of the Kansas Baseball team for Kansas Athletics along with doing play-by-play work for both Kansas Soccer and Volleyball. Additionally, I am one of two broadcasters with the Green Bay Rockers in the Northwoods League where I have broadcasted close to 100 games over the last two summers both on TV (ESPN+) and radio (95.5 and 1400 The Fan Green Bay). I am also a freelance writer for the Lawrence Journal-World as a high school sports reporter covering Free State High School Athletics in Lawrence. In addition to all this, I am part of the sports staff for the student-run radio station at KU (KJHK 90.7 FM) and have done events such as KU football and men’s and women’s basketball games, including getting to be on the call for the 2022 NCAA D1 Men’s National Championship in New Orleans, La.

I am hoping this portfolio will showcase my talents in the industry and I am looking forward to hearing productive feedback on how I can improve my work.
